Loire Museem

THE AUGUSTIN CONVENT.

The Museum de la Loire - Tél: 03.86.26.71.02 Installed in the former Augustinian convent, included in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments, the Museum presents an ethnological capital dedicated to the Loire and its history: commercial fishing, inland water transport are mentionned through everyday objects, ceramics from Nevers, nets, fishing gears and boat models. In a completely different register, visitors are invited to discover the collection inherited from Fine Arts - Emile Loiseau in 1970, very representative of the School of “Beaux Arts” in Paris (1910-1925). It is exceptional by the presence of the great creators of modern painting: Dufy, Vlaminck, Derain, Manguin, Utrillo, Chagall, Zingg, Epstein, Krémègne.

Various activities are offered throughout the year:
Temporary exhibitions, conferences, guided tours, workshops around different activities such as treasure hunts and puzzles for children and demonstrations: (Museum Night Festival, the Loire feast and the National Heritage Days).

NEW: The Museum of the Loire has its first game that enables, by a discovery booklet on theLoire,to have fun: for children from 7 years accompanied by their parents. It is the parrot Ver-Vert that will guide the family throughout the course. The circuit passes through four rooms of the museum concerning the subject of navigation, boat, fishing, beliefs and professions of the Loire; and this with riddles to solve, games of mistakes and having to fill blank pictures and answering observation questions.

A good idea to go out with the family to discover the Loire by having fun.
