The Craftsman

“Nivernais”, Loire Valley and “Puisaye” regions maintain a creative craft tradition, especially with ceramics and pottery.

Earthenware
The ceramic art is located in Nevers, famous for its blue enamel and polychrome decoration, for its scenery in "Rose Clamecy " also in “Gien” Loiret region, but in the nearby, it is famous for its fine earthenware, his "blue Italian ", his decorated sets with ”Peony” “Renaissance” and “Kashmire” style
Pottery


“Puisaye” is the privileged country to the "earth pots", the black clay, thin, plastic that has been extracted for centuries across the hillsides, and is renowned sandstone potters throughout the region of “Saint Amand” : many workshops produce flamed sandstone, salted or ceramics.
Sandstone is a beautiful matter, glazed, impervious after cooking, enamelled or not, which the salting of the pitcher to the jar in the sculpture offers enthusiasts useful culinary and decorative articles,.The Puisaye also offers its visitors initiation courses in pottery (CNIFOP St. Amand) where instruction is given by the best professionals. The castle of Saint Amand shelters the Museum of Stoneware. In the Cher region, near Henrichemont, the village of “La Borne”, and its immediate surroundings are also a center of pottery in Berry region.
The ochres of Puisaye: these natural dyes, known since prehistoric times, were widely used until the late 19th century. They represent a significant wealth of authentic patrimony heritage.
